DESE District Review – February 24-26, 2025

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has selected the Carver Public Schools to participate in a targeted district review.  The purpose of the district review is to provide formative and actionable feedback on district practices, enabling district leaders to reflect on progress and strengthen staff and student performance.  Representatives will be onsite at both Carver Elementary School and Carver Middle High School the week of February 24h as part of the review.

In addition, parent/guardians can play a role in this review by attending an online parent forum on Wednesday, February 26th from 6:00p – 7:00p to gather perspectives on communication with families, opportunities for family involvement and leadership, opportunities for students within the district, and more. If you are interested in joining, please register ahead of time at:
https://air-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/aaOa4WzvSeO5HfkrQLOV6w

Please click here to see the letter from the Superintendent with additional details about this review.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey – February 11, 2025
Carver Middle High School

Students in grades 6-12 will take part in a modified version of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey sponsored by the district’s Drug Free Communities (DFC) Grant through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The survey will ask about the substance use trends of students and will take about 5-10 minutes or less for students to complete during their scheduled WIN block.

Some students might find certain questions to be sensitive because it deals with substance use issues. The survey has been designed to protect your child’s privacy. Students will not put their names on the survey. The data gathered in the survey helps provide the best picture of what is going on with adolescent health related to substance use in our community.

We would like all students to take part in the survey, but the survey is voluntary. Students may skip any questions they do not wish to answer. In addition, students may stop taking the survey at any
point without penalty.  Parents may complete the form linked below and return it to the Middle High School main office if they would not like their child to participate in the survey at all.

If you have any additional questions please contact Carver Middle High School Assistant Principals Sean McInnis or Dillion Antell at

On Friday, February 7th, the Caring Crusaders Club launched their annual, “Caring Carnation Project” with the goal to promote and praise a positive, healthy, and inclusive school environment for all.  They decided that this should be a project held every year in February and students in the CCC (Caring Crusaders Club) will vote on the recipients and determine the design and messaging.

This year the group voted for the Senior class to be the first recipients and gifted the Senior class with their carnations and inspirational messages at their Senior Breakfast.  Many of the them were moved to hear that the younger students selected them because they have made an impact on their lives at CMHS and looked up to them.  Both recipients and CCC members were tasked by the group led by Advisor and DFC Grant Director, Meghan Quirke and Teacher Katie Beyer to continue with that goodness and have a positive impact on their community.
