Calendar changes for Mid Term and Benchmark Exams
at Carver Middle High School — January 22-27, 2025

Students in grades 9-12 will be taking mid-term examination based on the schedule listed below.

Note: Friday, January 24th is not a ½ day on the school calendar but it will be a ½ day for ALL students, grade 6-12 in order to accommodate the high school mid year exams and the middle school benchmark exam.

Students are expected to use the entire testing time for successful completion of their exams and should not be dismissed until the scheduled end of each exam.  All freshmen, sophomores and juniors are to be at school from 7:10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Monday.  One North Bus and one South Bus will be available at 10:45 HS dismissal Thursday, Friday, and Monday.

The Mid Year and Final Exam will each count as 5% of a student’s final grade in each full-year course.  The Mid Year will count as 10% of a student’s final grade in each semester course.

Mid-Terms for Seniors:

  • Seniors are not expected to report during an exam period when they are normally scheduled for an internship, if they can provide their own transportation.
  • Seniors who have a grade above 90 in a semester course are exempt from the exam.  Teachers will notify students who qualify for this exemption by Tuesday, January 21st.
  • Seniors are not expected to report during an exam period when they are normally scheduled for an internship, if they can provide their own transportation.

 


Congratulations to grade 8 student, Sydney Metrano who was selected to represent Carver Middle High School as our PROJECT 351 Ambassador due to her leadership, kindness, and willingness to give to others.  Project 351 is a statewide youth-driven service organization that unites eighth grade students from each city and town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a year of leadership development, enrichment, and impact. Through unique service opportunities, Ambassadors gain skills in order to create positive change in communities.

Sydney will attend the Project 351 conference this upcoming weekend with the other 350 representatives from towns across the state and will begin her year long service project journey!

Student Government for Grades 6-8 is sponsoring a trip to Carousel Family Fun Center in Whitman on Friday, January 17th from 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm.  Students have a half day and will be dismissed at 10:50am.  Students must return to school by 2:00pm.

The cost of the trip is $20 per student which includes the cost of admission, skate rentals, 2 slices of pizza, drink, and bus transportation.

The first 50 students who return their completed permission slip and payment are eligible to attend.  If your son or daughter will attend, please complete and return this form and payment (checks made payable to the Carver MHS) to Mr. Wechter in room 112 by Thursday, January 9th.

Unified Leadership Summit

Kudos to members of the high school Student Council and POST program who traveled to Silver Lake last Thursday to take part in a high school leadership workshop with student leaders from both Silver Lake and Whitman Hanson.


 

The annual elementary school Jingle Jog is coming up this week on Friday, December 20, 2024. This is an outdoor event for students only so warm festive clothing (and jingle bells!) are encouraged!

PowderPuff Games

Captains Council would like to thank the Carver community for their support at this year’s Powderpuff Games! We were able to donate over 100 items to the Shane Gives Thanks pantry. The money raised will also go towards sponsoring homeless families for this upcoming holiday.

CMHS Drama Club Presents: The Addams Family

Come support the Middle and High School Drama Clubs as they present the Addams Family the musical – Friday and Saturday December 6-7, 2024 7:00 p.m.  at Carver Middle High School.
Cash sales — Tickets will be sold at the door!


CES PTO’s Annual Winter Wonderland

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. |  Carver Elementary School
Join the PTO to celebrate the warmth of the season. Please drop in to enjoy some music, hot chocolate, cookie, crafts and games with music brought to you by the CES Chorus. There will also be a fun holiday store for children to shop at.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by firetruck at 12:30 PM.  With sensory visit time with the Claus’ from 1:00p to 2:00p.

Thank you to all of the families that donated non-perishable items that will go to the Shane Gives Thanks food pantry in time for the holidays.  Students and staff had a great week with Opposite Day, Hat Day, Mismatch Day and Color Battle Day. Turkey Trot @ CES
Tuesday, November 26, 2024

Students will participate in an informal, non-competitive Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 26th. They will walk or run the school running path during their special block (music, art, technology, book collection, PE). Students may wear festive hats if they like. Please send them with a warm coat, sneakers, hats, and mittens on the day of the Turkey Trot.
