MAP Growth Tests Nov. 5 – Nov. 10

We are excited to share an upcoming opportunity that we are preparing to help us better serve your child’s academic needs. During the dates listed below, your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on at school on their district-issued Chromebook. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student progress by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.  This November, we are running this assessment in part to see where students are after the extended closure (from March to September).

MAP Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.  Each test (reading and math) takes about an hour. Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.

Please note: It is important that your child come with their fully-charged Chromebook on their testing day.  To dedicate school bandwidth to this assessment, high school courses that “live stream” will not be live streaming these days.

We are truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit.

Sincerely,
Scott Knief, Superintendent

Letter to Families 10.12.2020

To All:

This afternoon we were notified that one student at the Middle High School and one student at the Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.  We have notified all close contacts.  Close contacts should be tested and are required to quarantine for 14 days. We will update the COVID-19 dashboard on the website tomorrow by 4 pm identifying the number of students and staff in quarantine in each building.  As part of our normal cleaning protocol both buildings were sanitized on Friday evening.  We have also notified the Carver Board of Health.

Remember wearing masks, social distancing, practicing hand hygiene and staying home when sick helps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  It is critically important that we all continue these important prevention strategies.

Thank you for your continued support

Letter to Families 10.01.2020

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Guardians:

I am writing to inform you that we were notified this afternoon that a staff member at Carver Middle High School tested positive for COVID-19.

Our first responsibility is to keep our students and staff safe. We have been planning for this scenario during our reopening planning process and have a comprehensive plan in place to respond. We are following all the protocols outlined by the Department of Health and Department of Education.  We are sanitizing the entire school this evening.  We have identified close contacts.  All close contacts should be tested and must self-quarantine for 14 days after the last exposure to the person who tested positive.  We have also notified the Carver Board of Health

Our staff and students have been closely adhering to the safety protocols including mask-wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing. We are grateful to our families for their continued efforts to keep students home at the first sign of symptoms. These measures, taken in combination, greatly reduce the risk of additional transmission.

We are committed to continuous communication to the school community.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the School Nurse Leader Karen Showan ([email protected]) or the building Principal Mike Schultz ([email protected]).

Thank you for your continued support.

Scott
