Jazz Ensemble, Grades 9-12

The Carver High School Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to performing historically accurate and meaningful Jazz music. The focus of the ensemble is rehearsing and performing music from the Big Band Era (1930’s-1940’s). The Jazz Ensemble also performs standard repertoire from the Cool, Bebop, Latin, and Funk styles. Students learn the basics of Jazz improvisation. Concerts include the Winter Holiday Concert and the Spring Pops Concert.

Instrumental Music Lessons, Grade 6

All sixth grade instrumental students are provided with weekly after-school music lessons. The lessons support the performance of the curriculum. Students meet in small groups. Lessons are free of charge.

Honors Band, Grades 6-12

The top two performers for each instrument spanning all grades (6-12) come together once per week after-school for ‘Honor Band.’ Students from sixth grade through twelfth perform side by side. Literature is selected so all students are equally challenged. The ensemble competes at Canobie Lake Park in June.

Carver Community Band, Grades 9-12 & Alumni

The ensemble meets once per week and is composed of CMHS Symphonic Band students and CMHS Symphonic Band alumni.

The Carver Community Band (CCB) is an enjoyable confluence of current Carver High School (CHS) Symphonic Band members, alumni of the CHS Symphonic Band, and citizens of Carver who enjoy playing music. The ensemble will be both challenging and fun as we play advanced high school (grade 4) and early collegiate (grade 5) level literature. We rehearse once a week and give a community concert in late August.
