Hearts for Hospice sponsored by the MS Student Government

Make homemade Valentines cards for patients at Beacon Hospice in Plymouth.  Juniors/Seniors can earn 1 hr/3 cards (2 hr. max). until February 8, 2021. Student Government Grades 6-8 is participating in the Hearts for Hospice Challenge. We ask all students to follow the attached guidelines and create at least 1 card for a hospice patient. Our challenge ends Monday, February 8th. We invite all friends and family members to join in. Card guidelines are attached. Card supplies are located outside the MS Guidance office. Please return completed cards to the red box also located outside the MS Guidance office. PS. Donations of card making supplies gladly accepted!

SAVERS Fun Drive Sponsored by the Music Boosters

Clean out your closets and cupboards for the Carver Music Boosters.  Without the usual fundraisers, the Music Boosters are still hoping to provide scholarships for the graduating seniors and lesson scholarships for the middle and high school musicians and vocalists. They are collecting clothes and household items to be donated to Savers on February 5 from 4p-7p and February 6 from 7a-10a in the CMHS parking lot by the auditorium.  Please limit your donations to one box and 4 bags per family. In addition they are still selling Carver Music winter hats for $15. Thank you for your support!

NHS Giving Tree Sponsored by the National Honor Society

Monday December 14th will be the last day to bring in a gift for the NHS giving tree located in the library foyer. Take one of the ornaments and purchase the item on the tag. Return the unwrapped gift to the bin near the tree. Gifts are going to a local family in need during this holiday season. Thank you for your generosity.

Holiday Items Fundraiser Sponsored by the Middle School Student Government

Student Government Grades 6-8 is selling holiday items now through Dec. 17th.  All proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation AND the Plymouth Animal Shelter. We are selling red and green stockings for $2. Since our candy elves can’t drop candy into the stockings this year, each stocking comes with a box of candy canes. Also, decorate your stocking and you might win our stocking decorating contest! Make sure your name is written inside and hang it on a locker by December 17th. The winner will receive a box of candy! We are also selling: bell necklaces for $1, santa hats for $2,  light up ornament necklaces for $3, large holiday hats for $4. Email your orders to Mr. Sullivan at sullivans@carver.org

COMMUNITY SERVICE INITIATIVES Sponsored by the Middle School Student Government

The Middle School Student Government’s mission is to enhance the entire student experience by supporting student interests, needs, and the welfare of our community.  Please join by contacting Mr. Wechter at wechterd@carver.org or Mr. Sullivan at sullivans@carver.org. PULL TABS / POP-TOPS Please donate pull-tabs or “pop-tops” from beverage cans for Shriners Hospitals for Children.  The money raised is used to purchase items for patient care.  Pull-tabs or “pop-tops” may be dropped off in the office or Mr. Wechter’s room.  The tabs are the only pure aluminum part of the can, and the cans may still be returned for deposit even after the tabs are removed.  Year round community service. (*Gr.11/12 comm. service: 1 hr/small sandwich bag; 3 hr. cap) WINTER COATS Donate warm winter coats now through January 10, 2021.  In these hard economic times, there are thousands of individuals in our very own community that are without a warm winter coat. Donated coats will be cleaned free of charge by Anton’s Cleaners. Once collected and cleaned, coats are distributed through the Coats for Kids Distribution Partners network, which includes local nonprofit and social service agencies. A collection bin is located outside MS Guidance. (*Gr.11/12 comm service: 1 hr/small sandwich bag; 3 hr. Cap MACY’S BELIEVE CAMPAIGN Student Government Grades 6-8 is encouraging everyone to support Macy’s Believe campaign.  Your letter to Santa can help raise $2 million for Make-A-Wish®. For every letter you send online at macys.com/believe or drop in a big red letterbox in store, Macy’s will donate $2 to Make-A-Wish, up to $2 million, to create life-changing wishes for children battling critical illnesses. With your help, we can make each child’s wish come true. HOLIDAY CARDS Please make holiday cards for our elderly community members.  Decorate the envelopes, write a holiday message, and place it in the drop box located in the main office.  Cards will be delivered through Meals on Wheels.  Card stock, holiday cards, colored pencils, markers and crayons are available from the main office. (*Gr.11/12 community service: 1 hr/card up to 3 hrs.) GIVING TREE for the ANIMAL SHELTER A Giving Tree is located in the Main Lobby to support the Plymouth Animal Shelter.  Please donate CLEAN towels, blankets, animal toys, and t-shirts to make animal beds.  All items may be new or USED (*Gr.11/12 comm. service: 1 hr. for participating)
