NEWS & UPDATES

  • Members of the school community recognized the A.D. Makepeace Company and Chris Ierardi of the Read Custom Soils division and Bob Ieronimo from New England Cranberry Corp. for their generous donation time and materials in the construction of the Walking/Running path at CES.
The walking/running path winds nearly half a mile around fields that are used by town soccer for youth games and practices and by the Phys. Ed. classes and running club at CES.
The students shared their enthusiasm for the new walking/running path and shared their love for running and bike riding including time with family, following their passions, and gaining a sense of achievement (especially when beating their parents in a race!).  Many thanks also to Renee DeMarsh, the Carver DPW, the students who came to represent CES at the School Committee Meeting:  and all those who helped to support this project.

The walking/running path is now open for community use after school hours.

Daylight Savings Time and the time change are currently newsworthy topics. This became a matter of public interest when the United States Senate voted unanimously last year to abolish the time change altogether and keep Daylight Savings Time permanently. So far the House of Representatives has yet to bring this bill to a vote. This topic sparked our curiosity and inspired us to do some research of our own. With the help of Dr. Seggio at Bridgewater State University the biotechnology students have been investigating the impact of genetics on the body’s circadian rhythm. They even had the opportunity to test their own genetics to analyze the correlation between our DNA and our sleep cycles. They are combining their findings with the research done by the Human Anatomy & Physiology classes to discuss why simply changing time schedules can have an impact on the human body. From a business perspective we will also discuss how a shift to consistent use of Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time could affect the national economy. We hope you can join us for our presentation on January 18th at 6:30pm in the auditorium of Carver Middle High School, 60 S. Meadow Rd. Carver, MA.

Athletics Updates 1/11/2023

On Monday, January 9th, Superintendent Knief shared the letter linked below with the Carver Public Schools community regarding the leave of Athletic Director, Phyllis Bowie.

Superintendent’s Letter – Interim Athletic Director 1.2023

Please see the information below from Interim Athletic Director, Sean McInnis:

Crusader Nation,

As we all begin a new calendar year, the sights and sounds of great athletics and academic semester are all around us and we are all excited for what is sure to be a continued successful athletic season here at Carver Middle High School.  I personally would like to follow up on Superintendent Knief’s email in regards to being named interim Athletic Director and Mr. LeBlanc continuing as the Assistant Athletic Director for our outstanding athletic program.  I am extremely honored and excited to be able to work with some of the area’s best student-athletes and coaches as we move through the completion of the winter season and the entire spring athletic season.  During the absence of Ms. Bowie, we will continue to ensure that each student-athletes athletic experience is one that you will reflect upon as being a positive, memorable, and fun experience.

During our oversight, we will continue to provide our students with the proper foundation for a positive athletic experience. As always, we will try to win every athletic event every time we step on the playing surface and we will put forth our best effort. We are committed to out-working our competition and doing things the “best way” in order to be successful. We are always reminding ourselves that we are not coaches, administrators, and staff, we are educators. While we strive to be successful on the field, we are preparing our young men and women for their years beyond the playing fields, providing them with the life lessons of preparation, teamwork, and dedication that athletics teaches so well and arming them with traits that serve everyone throughout their life no matter their career path.

Though it’s not possible for us to provide the perfect experience for everyone involved, it does not mean that we won’t try.  We want to serve you in a way that helps your child/family have the best educational and athletic experience possible during your time with us here as part of the Carver Public School District.

As we prepare to continue to move through the current and upcoming seasons, we would like to share some vital information which will assist with making this a great experience for you and your family:

  • We will update the homepage of the Carver Middle High School Athletics web page with important information throughout the season.  The schedule is mid way down in the center of the page.
  • The MIAA has replaced their phone app for schedules with a new product. They are using a company called Arbiter Sports for their scheduling tool.  You can add the app on your phone by visiting the App Store on your phone.  Once you are there search for “ArbiterSports” and it should pop up with an icon that is red and has AS in the middle of it.  You can download the app from there and select Carver Middle High as one of your favorites. Once you have selected it as a favorite you can see all athletic events and scores
  • Practice Schedules – Coaches will be providing the student-athletes with their practice schedules and changes to their practices schedules throughout the season.
  • We ask that if you have any photos from winter athletic events that you please forward them along via email to [email protected] or via instagram to @carver.athletics
  • We will continue to utilize the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Captains Council when discussing athletic policy, changes, and other topics that the student-athletes and coaches deem important.

Within the next two weeks, we will be sending out information in regards to offering opportunities for individuals to meet with myself to discuss athletics.  We will be offering our first of three Coffee With Athletics, this will provide individuals with the opportunity to come in and discuss some of the great opportunities, projects, and accomplishments that we are focused on at this time.  It will also provide individuals with an opportunity to share ideas.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns via email at [email protected]
When you see me at a sporting event, please make sure and stop me if I can help you in any way.  We look forward to continuing to build the Carver Athletic Program into one that will challenge our student-athletes, develop student-athletes of strong character, and produce student-athletes that have outstanding results both in the classroom and on the playing surfaces.

Please continue to visit our website at https://carver.org/athletics/, our new Instagram account at @carver.athleltics, and on our Twitter account at @CarverCrusaders to view results, and photos; but more importantly, please plan an afternoon or night to come and watch one of our Carver Crusader teams in action.  We also hope that you will continue to support our Carver Athletics Boosters and hopefully be able to get involved with one of the many great events they are working on.

Go Crusaders!
