NEWS & UPDATES

  • Members of the school community recognized the A.D. Makepeace Company and Chris Ierardi of the Read Custom Soils division and Bob Ieronimo from New England Cranberry Corp. for their generous donation time and materials in the construction of the Walking/Running path at CES.
The walking/running path winds nearly half a mile around fields that are used by town soccer for youth games and practices and by the Phys. Ed. classes and running club at CES.
The students shared their enthusiasm for the new walking/running path and shared their love for running and bike riding including time with family, following their passions, and gaining a sense of achievement (especially when beating their parents in a race!).  Many thanks also to Renee DeMarsh, the Carver DPW, the students who came to represent CES at the School Committee Meeting:  and all those who helped to support this project.

The walking/running path is now open for community use after school hours.

Daylight Savings Time and the time change are currently newsworthy topics. This became a matter of public interest when the United States Senate voted unanimously last year to abolish the time change altogether and keep Daylight Savings Time permanently. So far the House of Representatives has yet to bring this bill to a vote. This topic sparked our curiosity and inspired us to do some research of our own. With the help of Dr. Seggio at Bridgewater State University the biotechnology students have been investigating the impact of genetics on the body’s circadian rhythm. They even had the opportunity to test their own genetics to analyze the correlation between our DNA and our sleep cycles. They are combining their findings with the research done by the Human Anatomy & Physiology classes to discuss why simply changing time schedules can have an impact on the human body. From a business perspective we will also discuss how a shift to consistent use of Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time could affect the national economy. We hope you can join us for our presentation on January 18th at 6:30pm in the auditorium of Carver Middle High School, 60 S. Meadow Rd. Carver, MA.
