James Otis Scholars
CMHS seniors Conor Blomquist, Jonah Puskar, Arianna Rozen, Carley Ryan, and Gabrielle Tracey were selected by the History Department and Principal Knief to participate in the eighth annual James Otis Lecture Series at the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
This series is presented every September by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates to help commemorate Constitution Day, the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, and to help honor the memory of the great people who created our government.
Students sat in the Chamber of the House of Representative in the State House and heard a panel of law experts deliver speeches and answer questions during the program– How Worcester County Saved the Jury System (and why it matters).
The students enjoyed the field trip, learned insightful information about the jury system and are now recognized as “James Otis Scholars.”

9-12 Grade Presentation – Cliff Crosby
Thursday October 9th at 8:30a grades 9-12 will attend a presentation with Cliff Crosby.
Cliff describes himself as a “modest former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion who has a fascinating behind the scenes story of how hard choices, faith and hard work helped him avoid the pitfalls of growing up in family circumstances that would defeat most children”.
Cliff will share his story of how growing up in a family with addiction issues impacted his choices and desire for success.
Our high school Adjustment Counselor and Department Chair, Kimberley Duane has been working with the Caron Treatment Center and the “Youth Health Connection” out of South Shore Hospital to develop programs and supports within our school for students struggling with addiction in some form.
The Caron Treatment Center has recommended Cliff’s presentation and has organized for him to come and speak at four South Shore High Schools and we are looking forward to his presentation.
