Middle High

Letter to Families 10.12.2020

To All:

This afternoon we were notified that one student at the Middle High School and one student at the Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.  We have notified all close contacts.  Close contacts should be tested and are required to quarantine for 14 days. We will update the COVID-19 dashboard on the website tomorrow by 4 pm identifying the number of students and staff in quarantine in each building.  As part of our normal cleaning protocol both buildings were sanitized on Friday evening.  We have also notified the Carver Board of Health.

Remember wearing masks, social distancing, practicing hand hygiene and staying home when sick helps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  It is critically important that we all continue these important prevention strategies.

Thank you for your continued support

Letter to Families 10.01.2020

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Guardians:

I am writing to inform you that we were notified this afternoon that a staff member at Carver Middle High School tested positive for COVID-19.

Our first responsibility is to keep our students and staff safe. We have been planning for this scenario during our reopening planning process and have a comprehensive plan in place to respond. We are following all the protocols outlined by the Department of Health and Department of Education.  We are sanitizing the entire school this evening.  We have identified close contacts.  All close contacts should be tested and must self-quarantine for 14 days after the last exposure to the person who tested positive.  We have also notified the Carver Board of Health

Our staff and students have been closely adhering to the safety protocols including mask-wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing. We are grateful to our families for their continued efforts to keep students home at the first sign of symptoms. These measures, taken in combination, greatly reduce the risk of additional transmission.

We are committed to continuous communication to the school community.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the School Nurse Leader Karen Showan ([email protected]) or the building Principal Mike Schultz ([email protected]).

Thank you for your continued support.

Scott

Back to School Forms and Bus Routes

In an attempt to have a paperless start to school for all students we have digitized all of the forms that students would normally get the first day of school.  Last week, I sent out the digital version of the emergency card and we have had a majority of families complete it.  Today, I have included the link to the emergency card and a link to all the other forms that you would need to normally sign and return.  We ask that everyone, including families who are fully remote, complete one form for each student.

If you have already completed the emergency card you do not need to do it again.  I have also attached the bus routes for both cohort A and B.  The bus routes are also posted on the website under the transportation tab.  If you have any questions about the bus routes please contact our Director of Transportation Maureen Siedentopf at [email protected].

Thank you for taking the time to complete these forms.

Communication Updates 9/17/2020

Please see the attached message from Mr. Schultz:

I hope the first day of school went well for everyone and we thank you for your patience as we continue to work together through first few days.  I wanted to share some information with you about Aspen and what you can expect in the first few weeks.  As you know Aspen will replace Jupiter Ed and Ipass.  For many I would assume that you did very little with Ipass over the years as we used Jupiter Grades for communication and grade monitoring.  Many parents have reached out concerned that they may be missing key information because they have been unable to set up their parent portal in Aspen.

At this time, Aspen is a means of communication for parents and to check in on students schedules.  Eventually it will work much like Jupiter Grades did with some additional features.  Some of these features include gradebook and links to teachers pages.  This is not set up at this time but will over the next few weeks.  As we roll this out, we will continue to provide information on how to access these features.  In the meantime its important that your student(s) have access to their teachers Google Classroom and/or Team Pages.

If your child is in Grades 6 and 7, they are part of a team and the teams have set up a google site Team Page, it is important that you and your child has access to that site.

For students in Grades 8-12, teachers predominately use google classroom.  I will send out more specific instructions for parents on how you can keep up to date on your child’s progress in google classroom.

Either way its imperative that students understand how their teachers are communicating with them over these next few days and throughout the school year.  If at any time while we are in full remote, your child cannot access a class or find the correct link, please contact Mr. Martin for grades 9-12, and Mrs. Cabral for grades 6-8 and they will provide access to classes.

Thank you for your patience
Have a great day,
Mike Schultz
