UPDATE: 2014 Turkey Trot

The 2014 Turkey Trot was a huge success.   We collected more food items than we have since 2008!  This year we had more runners than ever and had some outstanding performances by our students. The high school volunteers were great and we even had a guest appearance from our chief turkey, Mrs.  Kathy Moore – Mrs. Moore inspired this event 21 years ago! Due to the team effort of all our staff this was the best trot ever.  Many thanks for your support!

CARVER HIGH SCHOOL BAND PLAYS AT GILLETTE STADIUM FOR UMASS BAND DAY !!

Carver High School band members, once again, had an amazing opportunity on October 18th to play alongside 78 Massachusetts high school marching bands during the half time show of the UMass-Eastern Michigan football game at the Patriots home turf of Gillette Stadium. Whether they were experienced Band Day participants or new members to this amazing experience, the musicians exhibited such excitement to be part of a larger community of fellow instrumentalists. They began early that morning by traveling by school bus to Gillette Stadium where they immediately gathered with the other HS bands to begin practicing for their big moment on the widely known field of Gillette Stadium. While they rehearsed, parent chaperones including Stacey Burns, Christina Skinner, Bruce Skinner, Dagmar Ryan, Kathy Belbin, Rick Butts, and Wayne Hermenau prepared the annual pre-game tailgating party. Feeling refreshed after their delicious lunch, everyone was fortunate to watch the UMass football team score several touchdowns during the first half of the game. All of the schools quickly collected on the field at halftime to join the talented UMass Minuteman Marching Band directed by Minuteman Marching Band director Dr. Timothy Anderson and Associate Director Thomas P. Hannum to perform a medley of songs from hit movies: The Incredibles, Up, and Toy Story. The bands were also later entertained by the UMass Marching Band as they performed in the stands during the third quarter. The instrumentalists and their families and friends were smiling and enjoying the collective sound of the band. With the big win for UMass 36-14, there was certainly a sense of exhilaration and pride as the college crowd and the numerous HS bands all left the stadium. Observing the crowd, one would certainly know that UMass Band Day is day that has created such wonderful memories for the instrumentalists from all over the state. “Music is the universal language of mankind”
