We need your help.  Please update your parent portal in Aspen (Annual Student Information and Contact Update), specifically we need you to either check yes or no under photo consent.  This will help our teachers to share photos of your child in ClassTag, our newsletter and website.  For directions to update the parent portal,  follow this linkhttps://carver.org/new-aspen-parent-guardian-annual-updates/

Please note that this will need to be completed either on a desktop or laptop computer.  If you need assistance with your Aspen account, please call the office and we will assist you.

Athletic Updates 8.29.2023

I hope that you had a great weekend and have enjoyed your summer thus far! I want to take a moment to provide you with some important information that you will need as we prepare for what hopes to be a successful fall season.

Important Documents

I am attaching a few documents that I strongly encourage you to review as we get ready to start the season. They are hyperlinked and are posted to our website for quick access.

  • Carver Athletics Sports Night Presentation – These are the slides that we reviewed during our 2023 Fall Sports Night. Please review if you were not in attendance and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions with any of the information that was presented.

  • Carver Middle High School Athletic Handbook – The information presented in this handbook has been compiled to better acquaint you with the policies, practices and regulations that govern the interscholastic athletic programs at Carver Public Schools.

  • 2023 Fall  MASTER Schedule – This spreadsheet includes our practice in addition to our contest schedules for the 2023 Fall season. Please note, this schedule remains fluid so please keep it handy (bookmark it) throughout the season.

  • Arbiter Live Contest Schedules – New scheduling site! Go to www.arbiterlive.com and search “Carver” for team schedules. You can also follow your teams’ schedules; as part of following teams, you will receive notifications regarding your teams’ games and any event changes or cancellations. Arbiter Live will also be used to view team rosters and team scores. Lastly, there is a new smartphone app so please check that out and download it!

ImPACT Baseline Testing

Please note, your child will need to complete their ImPACT Baseline Test in order to remain eligible for the upcoming season. This test is good for 2 years! Our Athletic Trainer, Phil Madore is working with our teams and students to make sure they get this done as soon as possible. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Madore and he will be glad to help you out. His email is: [email protected].

Athletic Fee Info

The Athletic Fee is due BEFORE the first athletic contest (one week away). Our preferred method for payment will be for families to pay online through our Unipay account. You may also pay by cash or check, payable to the “Carver Athletic Department”. If this is the case, it can be brought to the Carver Middle High School office (Attention: Christopher Carbone).

  • Sports Participation Fee
$150.00 (All sports except Ice Hockey)
    $300.00 (Ice Hockey)
    $750 (Family Cap)

New Assistant Athletic Director

During our Fall Sports Night, we introduced our new Assistant AD, Tim Murphy. Mr. Murphy is a new physical education teacher at CMHS and we are looking forward to bringing him on board for the upcoming school year.

Closing

Thank you all for your continued support as we create the best possible experiences for all Crusaders; it is our goal that your child has a positive and memorable experience as a student-athlete! As always the case, please feel free to reach out to the CMHS Athletics office with questions, concerns, etc. I can best be reached at (508) 866-6136 or via email at: [email protected].

Best,

Christopher Carbone

Welcome to the 2023 Fall Athletic season!

My name is Christopher Carbone and I was recently appointed as the Interim Athletic Director for the upcoming school year. I feel honored that I was selected to serve your community and look forward to the opportunity to meet you and work with all of our amazing student-athletes this upcoming fall season.

For now, I wanted to send out a reminder and invite you to our 2023 Fall Sports Night. This event will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:00pm in the Carver Middle High School Auditorium. Student-Athletes and Parents/Guardians who are registered for a fall sport are strongly encouraged to attend. During the evening, we will review athletic department policies and other important information. Following the athletic director presentation, students and their parents/guardians will break out and meet with their coaches for their individual team meeting. Head coaches will go over additional team rules, schedules and expectations for their program.

After the event, please be on the lookout as I will be sending along some important information that you will need for the upcoming season (sometime Wednesday). As always the case, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. Have a wonderful evening!

Best,
Christopher Carbone
Interim Athletic Director

Grade 9-12 Student Schedule Information

Dear Grades 9-12 families,

We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready for our school year to begin.

In Aspen, you will find a tentative class schedule. Please review your schedule to make sure that it is accurate and complete.

When reviewing your schedule, please look for the following:

  • You have a class in each subject area – Math, English, Science, History, and possibly a Foreign Language
  • Your levels are correct (Advanced Placement, Honors, College Prep, or College Prep2)
  • You have a class scheduled during each block (A,B,C,D,E,F & G)
  • You are not scheduled for a class that you have previously taken

If you need to make a change in your schedule, students should fill out this form: Schedule Change Request Form

We will be working in the building on schedules August 9th and Thursday, August 10th.  As mentioned in Mrs. Cabral’s August newsletter, we welcome high school students to stop by the high school guidance office from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm if you wish to make a change to your schedule in person. Otherwise, we will continue working on schedules upon our return on August 22nd.

Please understand that you may be switched into different sections of classes before the start of school if we need to balance any classes, but your core courses will remain the same. This may, however, result in a teacher change. We will be reviewing the request forms in the next couple weeks. Changes to the schedules will be made until the start of school so it is important that you follow the schedule that is in Aspen on the first day. If we need to reach you about a specific request we will send you an email. All schedules must be complete by the first day of school, August 30th. The deadline to add/drop a course is Friday, September 8th.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to a great school year ahead!

Mrs. McKenna and Mrs. Nolan
