Second Step Program: A Violence Prevention Curriculum

The Second Step Program: A Violence Prevention Curriculum, by the Committee For Children, a non profit organization, is a research based social and emotional learning program for students in Preschool through grade 9. The program helps schools and families encourage children to get along well with others. The program teaches children to think about others’ feelings, to solve problems cooperatively, and to manage their anger in a positive way. Children who receive Second Step instruction experience growth in self confidence and a readiness for academic learning. Information about this program can be found at http://www.cfchildren.org/programs/ssp/overview/ or you may contact the school adjustment counselor.
