Civics Bee-Area Schools Compete

This past Sunday (March 22nd) four Carver Juniors–Arianna Rozen, Carley Ryan, Gabrielle Tracey, & Monica Walcek-participated in the first annual Civics Bee sponsored by the Plymouth chapter of the League of Women’s voters. The League’s mission is to encourage informed an active participation in government. Coached by Mr. Brendan Cully, the CMHS students competed against teams from Plymouth North, Plymouth South, Duxbury, and Sacred Heart. They answered 100 questions about voting, municipal, state, and federal government. Carver took fourth place with only two points separating them from second place.

Final Results:

  • Plymouth North HS 57
  • Sacred Heart HS 48
  • Duxbury HS 47
  • Carver MHS 46
  • Plymouth South 45

According to Coach Cully, the students “could not have represented our school any better. They presented well, stayed calm under pressure, and were gracious” competitors. All juniors–Ari, Carley, Gigi, and Monica–look forward to returning to competition next year.
