2015 Engineering Encounters Bridge Design Contest

Congratulations to Kyle Rizzuto and Holly Lauzon who Finished in 3rd place in the Nation for Middle School teams in the Semi-Final round of the 2015 Engineering Encounters Bridge Design Contest.

Engineering Encounters conducted the semi-final round Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00pm. Kyle and Holly had 2 hours to submit bridge designs with specifications given to them at that time. Kyle and Holly needed to finish in the top 2 for middle school teams to compete in the Finals round. Should one of the two teams not be able to compete, Kyle and Holly are the alternates and would attend in their place. The other two teams are from Rochester, MN and Orlando, FL.

Their design was good enough for 2nd place overall for Massachusetts grades 6-12 teams and 1st place overall for Massachusetts Middle School teams.

The photos are from the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Awards banquet for the top 20 teams in the state. (3 teams were from Carver!) The Banquet was held at Framingham State on Tuesday May 19th. The awards were for their performance in the Ralph Salvucci Online Bridge Competition for Massachusetts.  Holly and Kyle finished 1st for middle school (4th overall 6-12), Gavin Morey and Braden Froehlich finished in 9th place, and the team of James Silva and Matt Crump finished in 18th place for grades 6-12.
