Sean Lyman, Science Teacher, Carver Middle High School
Massachusetts Marine Teacher of the Year
by the Massachusetts Marine Educators – March 2026
This award is given for outstanding effort and distinguished performance in the teaching of marine science. This award from recognizes an individual’s ability to foster interest, appreciation, and love of the marine environment in the classroom setting.  Mr. Lyman was recognized for the  development of  the Marine Ecology and Fisheries Management course in Carver and his work with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation organization.


Kelsey Kincade Athletic Director
Award of Merit Nominee by the Massachusetts Secondary School Athletic Director’s Association (MSSADA) – September 2025
District 9 of MSSADA selected Mrs. Kincade for the nomination for her outstanding contributions to the field of educational athletics throughout her career.


Christine Cabral, Principal, Carver Middle High School
Administrator of the Year
by Massachusetts Association of Student Councils – March 2025
Carver Middle High School Principal, Mrs. Christine Cabral received a prestigious award at the 48th annual MASC Student Council State Leadership Conference. The 2025 Administrator of the Year Award is given to one outstanding administrator in the state of MA. The CMHS Student Council was so proud to nominate Christine, and she gave such an amazing and heart felt speech to the over 1,100 students and advisors from across Massachusetts at the state conference


 

David Arruda, M.E.T. Science Teacher

iRobot Educator of the Month – STEM Educator of the month
May 2022
Mr. Arruda was recognized as a Massachusetts STEM teachers who are being recognized for outstanding contributions to student success during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Joann Blum Inspiration in Environmental Education Award by the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers
This award is given to a teacher who inspires his/her children to see science in the natural world around them!


Chef Portelance, Culinary Arts Teacher
National Educator of Excellence

Chef Dan Portelance, Culinary Arts Instructor at Carver Middle High School, has been selected as the “ProStart National Educator of Excellence.” This award recognizes, rewards, and promotes an educator who demonstrates excellence in the classroom as well as passion, commitment and creativity in all aspects of the ProStart program. Chef was nominated for the award this winter by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association and he will be going to Chicago in May to receive it.  Chef Portelance was also recently featured in a short documentary, “Why this Road” produced by Breakwater Studios.


Erin Young, Math Teacher and Department Chair
Partners in Excellence Teacher Award
by Mass Insight Education and Research for exemplary work in the AP STEM and English Program.
Mrs. Young  was one of 29 Massachusetts AP teachers who are being recognized for outstanding contributions to student success during the 2016-2017 academic year.
