We strongly encourage parents/guardians to make appointments with one or all of the individual student’s teachers, the student’s guidance counselor, and/or the assistant principal or principal. This is a good opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school. You may simply want to connect with your student’s teacher to gain insight into the school day. You may want to address a concern or want to celebrate an achievement in a particular subject area.

Please take advantage of this time to have some quiet conversation with our faculty and staff. As always, please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions or are having any trouble scheduling online.

  • Grades 8-11 Course Selection for 2023-2024
Guidance Counselors met with all students in their history classes to review the 2023-2024 Program of Studies and assist students with logging into Aspen to select their courses for next year. The portal for course selection will be open until Friday, February 24th. Students are encourged to log into their Aspen account with their parents/guardians to review their teacher recommendations and the courses they have requested. Please click here for more information about the course selection process and how to view course requests in Aspen. Students were also provided with a “cheat sheet” of courses available for their grade levels. You can find the digital copy for your student’s grade level below. We recommend referring to the Program of Studies if you would like a detailed explanation of the courses and their prerequisites. Our Carver Pathways offer a variety of electives for students to choose from in grades 9-12 we hope you check them out!Grade 9 List of Courses

  • Name Tags For Dismissal @ CES
CES is proud to announce that every child will be receiving an end-of-school dismissal tag for their backpack. This tag is  designed to further improve our dismissal process. We will be placing the name tags on your child’s backpack. Here is an image of what a blank backpack tag looks like. Your child’s individual tag will include their typical end-of-day dismissal plan. We ask that you leave the tag on for the remainder of the school year. At the end of the year, we will work with you to evaluate our new system and make adjustments for the coming year. If the tag becomes damaged or is accidentally removed, please do not worry, we can quickly replace it. If you have any questions, please reach out to any of the school administrators.

NEWS & UPDATES

  • CMHS Dismissal and Tardy Policy Reminder:
    DISMISSALS:
All appointments should be scheduled during non-school time, whenever possible. However, when it is unavoidable that a student be dismissed, parents submit plans for changes for their student by accessing the Pick Up Patrol app through their smartphone or computer. If unable to do this, a parent/guardian can send an email to [email protected].  Students who are not feeling well should be reporting to the school nurse and dismissed through our nurses office at door #3.  If a student is returning to school after being dismissed they should be checking back in with the main office and providing the proper paperwork to excuse their dismissal.

    TARDY TO SCHOOL:
A student will be considered tardy to school if they arrive in the building and/or homeroom after 7:25 A.M. Administration will monitor student tardy issues on a regular basisAn additional office detention will be issued for every subsequent fifth tardy during the same term. Excused tardiness is limited to documented medical appointments

NEWS & UPDATES

  • Members of the school community recognized the A.D. Makepeace Company and Chris Ierardi of the Read Custom Soils division and Bob Ieronimo from New England Cranberry Corp. for their generous donation time and materials in the construction of the Walking/Running path at CES.

  • “Daylight Savings: Are the Effects Worth It?”  a Pathways Students Presentation
6:30p | Carver Middle High School Auditorium
Daylight Savings Time and the time change are currently newsworthy topics. This became a matter of public interest when the United States Senate voted unanimously last year to abolish the time change altogether and keep Daylight Savings Time permanently. So far the House of Representatives has yet to bring this bill to a vote. This topic sparked our curiosity and inspired us to do some research of our own. With the help of Dr. Seggio at Bridgewater State University the biotechnology students have been investigating the impact of genetics on the body’s circadian rhythm. They even had the opportunity to test their own genetics to analyze the correlation between our DNA and our sleep cycles. They are combining their findings with the research done by the Human Anatomy & Physiology classes to discuss why simply changing time schedules can have an impact on the human body. From a business perspective we will also discuss how a shift to consistent use of Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time could affect the national economy. We hope you can join us for our presentation on January 18th at 6:30pm in the auditorium of Carver Middle High School, 60 S. Meadow Rd. Carver, MA.
