Athletic Updates 8.29.2023

I hope that you had a great weekend and have enjoyed your summer thus far! I want to take a moment to provide you with some important information that you will need as we prepare for what hopes to be a successful fall season.

Important Documents

I am attaching a few documents that I strongly encourage you to review as we get ready to start the season. They are hyperlinked and are posted to our website for quick access.

  • Carver Athletics Sports Night Presentation – These are the slides that we reviewed during our 2023 Fall Sports Night. Please review if you were not in attendance and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions with any of the information that was presented.

  • Carver Middle High School Athletic Handbook – The information presented in this handbook has been compiled to better acquaint you with the policies, practices and regulations that govern the interscholastic athletic programs at Carver Public Schools.

  • 2023 Fall  MASTER Schedule – This spreadsheet includes our practice in addition to our contest schedules for the 2023 Fall season. Please note, this schedule remains fluid so please keep it handy (bookmark it) throughout the season.

  • Arbiter Live Contest Schedules – New scheduling site! Go to www.arbiterlive.com and search “Carver” for team schedules. You can also follow your teams’ schedules; as part of following teams, you will receive notifications regarding your teams’ games and any event changes or cancellations. Arbiter Live will also be used to view team rosters and team scores. Lastly, there is a new smartphone app so please check that out and download it!

ImPACT Baseline Testing

Please note, your child will need to complete their ImPACT Baseline Test in order to remain eligible for the upcoming season. This test is good for 2 years! Our Athletic Trainer, Phil Madore is working with our teams and students to make sure they get this done as soon as possible. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Madore and he will be glad to help you out. His email is: [email protected].

Athletic Fee Info

The Athletic Fee is due BEFORE the first athletic contest (one week away). Our preferred method for payment will be for families to pay online through our Unipay account. You may also pay by cash or check, payable to the “Carver Athletic Department”. If this is the case, it can be brought to the Carver Middle High School office (Attention: Christopher Carbone).

  • Sports Participation Fee
$150.00 (All sports except Ice Hockey)
    $300.00 (Ice Hockey)
    $750 (Family Cap)

New Assistant Athletic Director

During our Fall Sports Night, we introduced our new Assistant AD, Tim Murphy. Mr. Murphy is a new physical education teacher at CMHS and we are looking forward to bringing him on board for the upcoming school year.

Closing

Thank you all for your continued support as we create the best possible experiences for all Crusaders; it is our goal that your child has a positive and memorable experience as a student-athlete! As always the case, please feel free to reach out to the CMHS Athletics office with questions, concerns, etc. I can best be reached at (508) 866-6136 or via email at: [email protected].

Best,

Christopher Carbone

Welcome to the 2023 Fall Athletic season!

My name is Christopher Carbone and I was recently appointed as the Interim Athletic Director for the upcoming school year. I feel honored that I was selected to serve your community and look forward to the opportunity to meet you and work with all of our amazing student-athletes this upcoming fall season.

For now, I wanted to send out a reminder and invite you to our 2023 Fall Sports Night. This event will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:00pm in the Carver Middle High School Auditorium. Student-Athletes and Parents/Guardians who are registered for a fall sport are strongly encouraged to attend. During the evening, we will review athletic department policies and other important information. Following the athletic director presentation, students and their parents/guardians will break out and meet with their coaches for their individual team meeting. Head coaches will go over additional team rules, schedules and expectations for their program.

After the event, please be on the lookout as I will be sending along some important information that you will need for the upcoming season (sometime Wednesday). As always the case, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. Have a wonderful evening!

Crusader Nation,

We hope that you are all doing well as you start your summer schedules.  While we know tomorrow is the 4th of July and we are just starting our summer season, we would like to remind each of you that registration for the Fall 2023 High School Athletic Season opened on Tuesday May 23, 2023.  As of today we have over 128 student-athletes that have registered for a fall sport.   We ask that you please review and complete all of the steps below if you are planning on participating in a fall sport that you please register as soon as possible. We ask this for multiple reasons including:

  • This will ensure that you will be ready for the first day of tryouts / workouts
  • We will utilize this data to decide if we will open registrations for certain sports for 7th graders.
  • This will ensure we have proper coaches in place as well as equipment/uniforms needed.
  1. Register in FamilyID Portal – Click Here to register by Friday August 4, 2023 for all sports.  Coaches will have access to all student-athletes looking to participate in their sport once the registration in FamilyID is completed.  If not registered by the above date we can not guarantee that you will receive clearance for the first day of tryouts.
  2. A current physical (new or on file) from within the last 13 months.  REMINDER: a physical may expire during the season, we will need a new physical to keep your student eligible.  Physicals must be submitted to Lorraine Leahy at the High School Nurse’s Office either in paper form or you can scan the physical and send it to Interim Athletic Director Sean McInnis at [email protected]. We will reach out to any student-athlete that has a missing or expired physical starting on Sunday August 6, 2023
  3. Current or updated IMPACT test must be on file.  The Impact tests are good for 2 years from the date of taking the test.  We will reach out to any student-athlete that has a missing or expired Impact test starting on Sunday August 6, 2023.
  4. Any outstanding uniform issue or any user fee still outstanding from 2022-2023 season must be paid in full.  We will also be in touch with anyone missing a uniform from 2022-2023.  If your uniform is missing, you will not be able to tryout for a sport in the 2023 – 2024 academic season until the uniform is turned in or has been paid for.
  5. All previous User Fees must be paid in full or arranged for with the Athletic Office prior to tryouts. If a student-athlete does not make a team or decides not to play a spring sport we will process a refund.  If you would like to submit a check for payment please submit checks payable to Carver Athletics and can be sent to the the High School Main Office

We will be offering impact testing for all students that need to complete the testing.  Please watch for an email from our trainer starting in early August if you are informed we are missing your impact test or you need to take one for fall sports.  Our Trainer’s email will review the process on how to handle the impact testing for anyone that needs to complete this.

We hope that you are all having a great start to the month of June.  We are so sorry to do this to each of you but we are going to need to move our student-athlete celebration to Monday June 12, 2023 during the same time period.  We are moving this due to the fact we have two teams still left in the MIAA state tournament and one of them will play on Monday evening.  We have rescheduled everything with the teachers that have offered to help run events during the event and all of the vendors.  We are hoping that you will be able to join us in celebrating your seasons and your student athletes.   We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
