Crusader Excellence

From Mr. Tresca, History Teacher:
I  would like to share a great citizen moment that I had the pleasure to participate in this past Saturday, [September 24] spending 10 hours with 3 exceptional Juniors from CMHS assisting an organization known as Project Citizens..

Clare Manning, Hailee Oriola and Torri Dibble traveled with me to Boston to volunteer and assist 450+ legal immigrants from across the State begin their process to become Naturalized U.S citizens.  The majority of these immigrants come from the Caribbean countries but they are from all over the world.

The four of us along with over a hundred other volunteers helped immigrants….
      – with their 20 page application
      – get 75% a $725 fee waived
      – began registration with walk-ins.
– assisted with childcare for parents
We also had the privilege to meet and speak to Mayor Marty Walsh which Clare, Torri and Hailee each loved talking to and who was very friendly and appreciative.
This is my second time taking a small group of Carver students to Citizenship Day. Every student was a model citizen who acted both helpful and mature beyond their years, representing Carver proudly!
I attached a couple pictures and a 1 minute video that one of the students creates of the day.

Kudos to Carver Students and Mr. Lamoureux, History Department Chair who participated in a book discussion with other high school students from Wareham, Bourne, teachers and local Veterans groups on Vietnam veteran Tim O’Brien’s book, “The Things They Carried,” at the Wareham Middle School Library during the Travelling Vietnam Memorial Wall’s visit to Wareham (Aug. 17-21).
