Schools in the Commonwealth utilize the MA Curriculum Frameworks to guide unit development and pace content for each school year.
In an effort to clearly communicate student learning outcomes, the Carver Public Schools publishes curriculum benchmark document for all major curriculum areas. These benchmarks are designed to align current curriculum guidelines with the learning standards from the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The benchmarks are a work in progress to provide a consistent approach to curriculum content across grade levels in the Carver Public Schools.
A benchmark is a statement of expected student performance at a particular point in time. Not every student will master these benchmarks at exactly the same time.
These curriculum benchmarks:
tell us what students should know and be able to do at a point in time.
are observable and measurable.
reflect teachers’ expectations for students by the time they finish a grade level or course of study.
are attained by most students and exceeded by some.
The 2010 curriculum benchmark documents are available in electronic PDF format using the links at the top of this page. (Please note that you must have Adobe Reader on your computer in order to access PDF files.)
If you require a hard copy of the benchmark documents, please contact the main office at your child’s school with your request.
